It is a good idea to make reservations in advance as Mumbai, as a financial and commercial centre, receives a large number of visitors each year. Once you reach and are settled start your trip to explore the city from east of Mumbai. Visit the Malabar Hills, The Hanging Gardens, Prince of Wales Museum and the Gateway of India. For the religiously inclined, a visit to Siddhi Vinayak temple dedicated to Elephant god Ganesha and the Haji Ali mosque are your best bets. Most temples and mosques in India do not allow shoes on their premises and you need to remove them before venturing inside. It is also a good idea for women to cover their heads as merely a mark of respect for local customs and traditions. Do not give money to beggars around as you usually certify as an easy target and hundreds of others will hound you.
